En mélangeant des dogfights et des batailles navales à la jouabilité plutôt arcade avec des éléments de gameplay qui mettent volontiers en avant la stratégie martiale, Battlestations : Midway s'est lancé dans un défi risqué qui pourrait en décontenancer plus d'un. Pourtant, le challenge que propose le titre de Eidos est à la fois inédit et convaincant. Passer, au sein de la même mission, d'un cockpit d'avion au pont d'un destroyer surpuissant ou au poste de pilotage d'un sous-marin fourbe tout en gérant l'ensemble de vos unités depuis une carte stratégique est une expérience vraiment captivante et grisante. Dommage que la réalisation soit un peu juste pour de la Next Gen et ne soutienne pas mieux le gameplay à multi facettes de Battlestations : Midway. La richesse du titre de Eidos n'est en tout cas pas une seconde remise en question, l'alchimie entre l'action acharnée des phases de combats aux commandes de tous ces engins et l'aspect stratégique des batailles fonctionne très bien. Battlestations : Midway est ainsi une vraie surprise que les amateurs du genre un peu en manque sur Xbox 360 apprécieront sans doute.
